Sometimes it only takes a few of the right accessories to completely transform a space. That was the case for this East Nashville master bedroom restyle for Paul and Katie. These two are such a fun and adorable couple with a love for warm, rustic style and furniture with a lot of character. They love to entertain by hosting live music nights, backyard BBQs and doggy play dates.
The couple bought their home last year and were off to a great start with their master bedroom, featuring a rustic bed, nightstands, dresser and a Belgian linen duvet from West Elm. All they needed were a few new additions to achieve the rustic-modern bedroom they'd been dreaming of. Easily inspired by what they were already working with and a clear vision of what they wanted, we got to work on their One Day Restyle and quickly came up with a design plan for the room.
To brighten up the existing furniture, we added contrasting whites and neutrals wherever we could. Bringing in soft fabrics and a little bit of pattern helped to offset the heaviness of the large, dark furniture, creating the perfect mix of masculine and feminine. The new rug helps to ground the space with its neutral color palette of grey, blue and white, while the subtle pattern gives the room a soft touch.
Next, we tackled the nightstands. These gorgeous Source Kudu table lamps from West Elm added height next to the tall headboard, and the organic horn shape was consistent in giving us the subtle rustic style throughout. We kept the rest of the decor simple and elegant, adding succulents and flowers for pops of color and texture. Two new Euro pillows, fresh white linen pillowcases, a few textured throw pillows and voila!, a gorgeous new bed. What a difference pillows can make, huh?
Every cozy bedroom could use a quaint reading nook. We brought in this striped Cambridge arm chair, perfectly suited for the space. We added one of their cowhide pillows for texture and a little something unexpected, then hung two wood carved mirrors. You may recognize the mirrors from the 'Before' photo where they were originally placed above the bed. By moving the mirrors behind the chair, light from the window can bounce around the room.
A large-scale piece of framed art from Society 6 helps to bring a bit of moodiness to the room with it's soft gray and blue tones and the appearance of haziness over mountain tops. We finished off the space by combining both modern and rustic style accessories and adding a large mirror over the dresser.
In one day we were able to transform this (already) great space into a dreamy, rustic-modern master bedroom just by adding a few of the right accessories and giving a little Scouted Home styling love!
