We just love this One Day Restyle we recently completed for two Jersey girls living in the Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles. The client, Alex, and her childhood best friend had just moved into their adorable two bedroom home and were looking to give a few of their rooms (including the living room and patio area) a defined style. Alex and her BFF, Missi, were off to a great start with their living room and we were confident that with just a few additions and thoughtful styling we could help bring the space to life. They wanted a look that was California Chic - glam but laid back, clean with pops of color and with the ease and comfortability to entertain friends.
We first connected with Alex through a Facebook group that focuses on interior decor... and friendship! The group is a great place for members to bounce ideas around, share thoughts and ask for design advice. Speaking of friendship, we should mention that these roomies have been tight going all the way back to grade school (seriously, so cute)! After going their separate ways for college, they never imagined they'd both end up living in Los Angeles where Alex works as an on air personality for 102.7 KIIS FM and Missi works for UCLA Health. They're both outgoing, bubbly and super sweet so we couldn't wait to give them a place that would reflect their personalities and showcase their design style.
Like we mentioned, the girls were already off to an amazing start, especially considering they had literally just moved in. The sofa, coffee table, rug and pillows had set the tone for the room and gave us great inspiration. The first thing we needed to address was the TV wall. We were looking for a way to take the focus off the television and knew a gallery wall was the way to do it. We sourced art prints from Society 6, balancing fun and colorful pieces with a few contrasting black and white pieces.
For extra seating, we added an accent chair in a shade of blue, which complemented the rug and added a fun pop of color. We shifted the bar cart into the corner and layered a brass mobile above (one of our very favorite additions to the room). The girls had everything we needed to style the coffee table: books, succulents and a gold tray. Next, we hung a curtain rod and bright white curtains to add height and airiness to the room. A wall hanging adds a little sparkle and helps to fill the space between the front door and window.
Next, we replaced the wood console table with a sleek metal console. The large brass mirror adds tons of glam to the room, helps the space appear larger and gives the ladies a "last look" on their way out the door. We kept the console styling fairly simple: a brass lamp for additional lighting, brass accents and a candle. We purchased the fiddle leaf fig locally (one of the best we've ever seen!) and purchased the basket from HomeGoods to serve as a planter. To add a touch of more greenery in the room, we hung a ceramic air plant holder (available in our online store, Shop Scouted).
Two besties, living it up in one of the greatest cities in the world, now have a place they are happy to come home to! We can only imagine all the fun that will be had in their new home... ahh, to be twenty-something again! Alex let us know she's never loved a place like she loves this one. We are so happy we could help these friends achieve the California Chic vibe they were going for. Be sure to stay tuned for our BEFORE + AFTER reveal of their patio space... coming soon!
